History
The Chamberlain Group was founded in 1999. It is the culmination of over two decades of enduring partnership and collaboration between its principals, Lisa and Eric Chamberlain.

Eric Chamberlain has more than thirty years experience in design and fabrication in surgical training, architecture, visual effects and modeling for feature films and television, mechanical effects, and electronics.

Lisa Chamberlain has a wealth of production and management experience in manufacturing, television and feature films, product design, computer graphics and digital video.

The company's talented staff of sculptors, designers, and model makers contributes extensive capabilities to meet your training needs.

The Chamberlains began working together in 1982 at R/Greenberg Associates in New York, an Academy-Award-winning leader in the burgeoning special effects business worldwide in the 1980s and 1990s. Having completed her undergraduate work at Princeton, Lisa came to R/GA as an intern in the MFA program at Yale. Eric had already sold his design and construction business, Installed Systems, to R/GA and joined the staff as head of physical effects. Along the way, other key personnel that fuel The Chamberlain Group's creative process today were added to the collaboration. Senior Engineer David Nuņez began working with Eric Chamberlain in 1980 and went on to work for R/GA as a model maker and mechanical effects specialist. Master Sculptor Stephen Thurn was a key model maker on a number of feature film projects under Eric Chamberlain's supervision. Their combined credits in the movie business include effects, opening titles, and feature campaigns for Superman, The World According to Garp, Zelig, Predator I and II, The Big Chill, Tootsie, Gandhi, Ghostbusters, Judge Dredd, Eraser, Starship Troopers, and The Matrix.

An initial project in 1997 for a medical model led them out of special effects and into the medical field, their exclusive focus today.

“The multiple disciplines that go into making a building, a movie effect, or a medical model are all the same – a clearly articulated purpose, great design, an understanding of materials, and the tenacity to bring it to fruition.”  - Eric Chamberlain

“In feature film effects, the only given was that everything had to be new every time. The work demanded creativity and innovation on a daily basis. So for us, doing something that no one has ever seen before, such as lifelike anatomical trainers, is not an intimidating process. It’s what we’ve always done, we expect it, and we have always held ourselves to a standard that says: The world is watching – it better be great.”
- Lisa Chamberlain

Eric Chamberlain is the president of The Chamberlain Group and leads the design and production departments. He focuses his energies in new product development and advanced technologies. The couple was married, finally, in 2000.

In November 2003, the Chamberlain Group received the Governor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for Outstanding Service to The Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Areas of Job Creation and Economic Development.
